OCCA offers Primary schools the opportunity of taking part in Superstarter Skills this is done through school visits. We aim to visit all schools in the district and we want all pupils, year 0-8 to take part. They will be taught the fundamental skills involved in the game, catching, bowling, batting and throwing in a fun learning environment.We offer festival days for primary schools to attend and this is where they can put their Superstarter Skills into action.

Superstar Cricket Academy
The New Zealand Post Superstar Cricket Academy is a junior development programme that teaches the fundamentals of batting, bowling and fielding within an exciting and competitive environment.
Designed for both boys and girls, it is the first step on a pathway that can lead to a lifelong involvement in cricket, whether it’s playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring or becoming a fan or maybe one day running on to the field as a BLACKCAP or a WHITE FERN.

Cricket Smart is a set of educational resources for primary and intermediate schools.
Developed by a Ministry of Education endorsed education developer and with the financial assistance of the New Zealand Government, Cricket Smart offers a range of New Zealand curriculum-based learning and teaching resources for Years one to eight. Made up of five different resource themes spanning eight learning areas, it has been designed to celebrate the game in a learning context for young pupils around the country.
