Year 7 Development Tournament

24/1/2019

A year 7 development team from our district attended a tournament in Timaru last weekend (Jan 18, 19, 20) and had plenty of success. The boys won 3 from 4 matches with plenty of good individual performances. Many thanks to Sandy Wilson for organising and coaching the team and the South Canterbury Association for managing the tournament and providing outstanding facilities for the boys to develop their cricket. The tournament was a great success and we are hoping to include two squads in the tournament next season.

Tournament results:

Round 1 (T20): Mountain View High School
Mid Canterbury 70/4 (Baxter Dimond 4 for 8) beat Otago Country Development 55/9

Round 2 (T20): Mountain View High School
Otago Country Development 160/1 (Josh Ede 24*, B Wilson 23*, Z Johnson 21*, Alfie Omelvena-Flame 20*) beat North Otago Development 33/9 (Binath Wijerathna 3 for 7, Alfie Omelvena-Flame 2 for 4, Harry Lithgow 2 for 7).

Round 3 (40 Overs): Aorangi Oval
South Canterbury 90/9 (Harry Lithgow 2 for 12, Angus O’Neill 2 for 6) lost to Otago Country Develt. 113/7 (Zach Johnson 49, Alfie Omelvena-Flame 23).

Round 4 (40 Overs): Aorangi Oval
Otago Country Development 261/7 (Angus O’Neill 52 ret, Zach Johnson 44, Jack Scott 40*, B Dimond 31) beat South Canterbury 229/9 (J Scott 3 for 33).
